The final trailer for director Todd Phillips' upcoming psychological thriller "The Joker," written by Scott Silver, has finally arrived, revealing the creepy, dark side of the legendary villain from the Batman films.
In the new DC Comics-based movie, Joaquin Phoenix plays the Joker, and Warner Bros. is the main distributor of the movie.
The "Joker" is set in 1981 and follows Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian who has gone mad and sows crime and chaos in Gotham City. Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy will also briefly appear in this movie, while other roles include Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham and Brian Tyree Henry.
"The Joker" will premiere at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2019, with movie screenings scheduled for October 4 in the United States.
